How social networks predict epidemics by Christakis

This is a video from TED where Nicholas Christakis (Harvard) briefly explains the idea that knowledge about (social) interaction structure can be used to early detection of epidemics (in a broad sense) and even to design policies to attenuate them.

I agree with him in the fact that complex network theory is definitely going to be introduced in our lives, but perhaps we will have to wait a bit to see his "orwellian" predictions of the last part of the conference... or maybe not?
